Biographical notes for William Bray

Source documents
David Bales commissioned some research into William and Catherine, and the following notes have been extracted :
William Bray batchelor, and Catherine Knight spinster, both of St Austell, were married by banns on 9 May 1833. He signed the register, she made her mark. The witnesses were William Knight and Maria Guy.
It seems that William Bray of Mt Charles aged 39 was buried at St Austell on 11 August 1844. Letters of administration of William Bray, miner of St Austell, 1844, were granted to his widow, Catherine on 10 October 1844. There is a note to record that he died on 8 August 1844.

According to David's family bulletins, William was a tin miner in Cornwall (1841 census). He was also Cornish wrestling champion in 1827. His prize, a gold watch, is still in possession of the Victorian branch of the family.
