Biographical notes for Peter McArthur

Peter McArthur migrated to Australia from the village of Kentra, Ross of Mull, Argylshire, Scotland, with a family of 11 children and his third wife. They departed from Birkenhead, near Liverpool, on 28 August 1852, aboard the "Marmion' of New York. They intended to go to Canada. On arriving at Portland, Victoria Australia, they decided to disembark on 4 December 1852. They travelled to Mt Gambier, arriving on Christmas Day.
